Palma de Mallorca

Palma de Mallorca, one of the Balearic Islands in Spain was a very pleasant surprise!!

What a beautiful island!!!!

Palma the capital is sophisticated and stylish overlooking the Mediterranean in the Balearic Archipelago enjoying great weather year round.

Hotels, restaurants, coffee houses, art galleries and fantastic shopping!  The city is full of life and great architecture.

We had a lovely stay at “Can Alomar” a boutique hotel right in the center of town on Paseo del Borne and Calle Sant Feliu.

Beautifully appointed rooms, discreet, knowledgeable concierge,  helpful staff and great location!

Dining at the terrace of  “De Tokio a Lima” was a marvelous experience, combining culinary dishes from Spain, Peru and Japan.

For my friends that enjoy shopping, I suggest:

-Rialto Living  stylish lifestyle concept store.

-Gerald Braun concept and art gallery.

-Corner, luxury fashion store.

-Bimba and Lola fashion shoe store.

-Loewe formal wear.

At night you can enjoy the old quarter, stroll through the tree-lined Paseo del Borne and admire the beautiful Gothic Cathedral. Have a “Ginger Mojito” at Sky Bar at the Cuba and restaurant in trendy Santa Catalina neighborhood.

Beautiful marinas such as Puerto Portals  where both pedestrians and cyclists enjoy the scene. We had an excellent coffee at Flanigans while watching the beautiful yachts and window shopping fro great designer labels.

Driving from Palma through the Serra de Tramuntana was a marvelous experience.  We first stopped at Deia, small village and had lunch at Cas Patron March. What an amazing spot in Cala Deia!  A small rocky cove serving beautiful seafood.

The great english poet Robert Graves lived in Deia and his  son William wrote the best seller “Wild Olives”. Great reading!!

We continued to the quaint town of Valldemossa  and from there to the Port of Soller and had dinner at “Ses Oliveres” facing the beautiful bay. Grilled Merlu and Black Rice Paella with squid and shrimp offered to us by the owner. What a treat!!!IMG_6448
